The 1st Annual 2018 Hoops for Hope Tournament welcomes basketball players (16+ Male & Female), beginner to advanced, to compete in order to raise awareness about Juvenile Dermatomyositis, and to keep Christiana Powery’s memory alive! A portion of the benefits will go toward benefiting the Cure JM Foundation and AlsoTouch Foundation.

When/Where is the tournament, and how long is it?
  • The 1st Annual Hoops East Coast Hoops 4 Hope Basketball Tournament will be held on Saturday, July 28th at Baruch College, main gym, from 9am-3pm.
  • 55 Lexington Ave, ARC Arena, New York, NY 10010

How do I get there?
  • You can take any of the following trains to 14th Street Union Square (L, N, Q, R, W, 5) and Transfer to the local 6 train to the 23rd Street stop. Walk northeast on Park Ave South.
OR
  • Take the 4 Train [Woodlawn] or 6 Train to 23rd Street stop. Walk northeast on Park Ave South

What to do when I get there?
  • When you arrive, please alert security that you are there for the Hoops 4 Hope Basketball Tournament in the main gym. Security will point you in the right direction.
  • There will be markers and volunteers along the path to the gym to direct you.

Is there a fee for general attendees?
  • This event is FREE to the public, so all are welcome! Please feel free invite any and everyone, the more, the merrier :)

How can attendees help us raise money?
  • There will be lots of opportunities for attendees to contribute to this worthy cause. They are invited to participate in our silent auction, give a suggested donation when getting food at the concession stand, purchase tickets for one of our many kids activities, or simply donate directly through our link (Hoops4Hope)
  • Attendees can visit the registration table to make any purchases, learn about pricing, or give a donation.

How will I know what’s being auctioned?
  • There will be an auction display table where descriptions, and opening bids for each item will be prominently displayed.
  • Our volunteers will help support you in making your bids.  

Will there be food?
  • Yes! We will have a concession stand stocked with light snacks and drinks, all available  with a small donation.

Can I bring my kids?
  • Yes! This is a family event, so we encourage you to bring your kids. We will have an area for designated kid friendly activities. Please note that children must be accompanied by an adult at all times during this event.

Can I use a credit card as well as cash?
  • Yes! Our volunteers will be equipped with squares that allow for credit card usage. Of course, we’ll take cash as well!

Can anyone participate in the Free Throw or Dunking Competition?
  • Yes! Just stop by the registration table to secure your spot.

Emergency Support?
  • There will be first aid kits available for minor injuries, and physical needs.
  • College staff is also trained to provide emergency care.
